Fall Happenings at Oak Hill

Greetings Friends of Oak Hill,

The leaves are changing, the mornings are getting colder, and Oak Hill is in that fun shoulder season where bikes are still rolling while skis are starting to creep back into our thoughts. There’s a lot happening on the hill as we head toward winter - some great new benefits for ski passholders and plenty of ways to get involved this fall.

Your Oak Hill Pass Goes Farther This Winter

2026-27 season passes are on sale! Last winter Oak Hill provided 125 days of groomed skiing and welcomed more than 40,000 skier visits. And this winter your pass comes with even more:

  •        Indy Pass: Oak Hill is now part of the Indy Pass network! OHOC passholders will be eligible to purchase the Indy Pass XC Add-On, giving you access to participating Nordic centers and other Indy Pass destinations. Details here!

  •        Woodstock Nordic: OHOC passholders will have free reciprocal skiing at Woodstock Nordic Center, we'll have details before the snow flies.

  •              Sustainer Passes: If you have the means, please consider a Sustainer Pass. Your additional support helps us keep skiing accessible while covering the growing costs of grooming, snowmaking, staffing and maintaining the trails and lodge.

Now You Can Take the Bus to Oak Hill!

We’re thrilled about this one. Beginning in November, Advanced Transit is adding Oak Hill as a regular stop on the Brown Route, with a stop every hour throughout the day. It’s another way for students, kids, families and other community members to get to the trails - and one fewer car in the parking lot. We’ll share the final schedule as the start date gets closer.

Mark Your Calendars

Volunteer & Community Day - Sunday, October 11, 2-6 PM

Come help us get Oak Hill ready for winter! We’ll have a mix of ski and mountain bike trail projects and jobs around the center, with something for lots of ages and abilities. After the 2-4 PM work session, we’ll gather at the lodge for dinner, live music and some outdoor-community merriment to celebrate our incredible volunteers and community partners!

The Ford Sayre Junior Team (JNT) will also be selling sweet treats to raise money for its Travel Fund, which helps support travel to U16, Eastern and Junior National championships. Come hungry and support the team while you help make Oak Hill better!

Ski Lease Night - Wednesday, October 14 @6:00p

Our lease program is back for kids and adults looking for ski gear without the expense of buying a new setup. Last year 93 people leased equipment, an 86% increase from the year before.

Ford Sayre Nordic Registration - October 1 @8:00p

Another winter of Ford Sayre Nordic programs at Oak Hill is right around the corner.

Deck the Hills - December 24

Save the date for one of our favorite ways to kick off the holiday week at Oak Hill.

You Told Us. We’re Listening.

Thanks to everyone who completed our end-of-season survey. We heard lots of enthusiasm about the skiing and community at Oak Hill - and some very clear ideas about where we can improve. Here are the biggest themes and what we’re doing about them:

  •       Bathrooms & running water: This was the most common request. We are moving ahead with plans and fundraising for two bathrooms and a changing room at the lodge.

  •        Parking & the access road: We continue to work with HIS, the Town and Dartmouth on longer-term road improvements. The new Advanced Transit service will also provide another option for getting to Oak Hill without a car.

  •        Better signage: You asked for clearer directions, trail maps and information about ski-only, walking and dog trails. Improved signage and wayfinding are on our list for this season.

  •        More beginner-friendly skiing: Last winter we added a beginner trail in the south stadium area with snowmaking, and this year we’re planning to expand snowmaking to the stadium section of Garipay. This will give newer skiers more approachable terrain while also helping relieve crowding in the Oak Hill stadium.

  •        Better access during practices & races: We love being home to youth skiing and major Nordic events, but we also need to preserve opportunities for everyday skiing. Our season review acknowledged that we tipped the balance a little too far toward competition last winter. We’ll work on that balance and better advance communication this season.

Thanks for taking the time to tell us what’s working and what could be better. Keep the feedback coming!

Until then, enjoy the fall trails, come lend a hand on October 11, grab your season pass - and start thinking snow.

See you on the trails,

OHOC Team
