Expected trail conditions: Spring has sprung. Likely to lose sight of that wonderful skiing we had on our natural surfaced trails as the week progresses. Yet, even though we can’t groom them, adventurous skiers can still find great crust skiing or dirt dodging on these trails. The silver fox trail will hold on and we will continue grooming especially as weather conditions cool off by the end of the week. Grooming is a fine balance of safe ski surfaces and snow preservation. The more we groom the less the snow hangs around. Yet, if the snow freezes over night without a groom, we’ll have a few unskiable mornings for sure. A degree or so on one side of freezing or the other can change everything. If you didn’t already know, we don’t always get it right!! Keep on skiing.
- Silver Fox Trail, North and South Loops: Machine made snow, hard and fast in the morning and corn in the afternoon, groomed for skate and classic and when conditions allow.
- Garipay/Golf Course: Hanging on early this week, icy in the mornings, very soft late in the day. Bare spots showing. Not Groomed.
- Upper Oak Hill Trails: Very Icy in the morning with growing bare spots and shrinking snow spots. Not groomed.
