You have Spoken, We have Heard!

Updated: 23 hours ago

Friends of Oak Hill Outdoor Center,

We are very appreciative of folks that took the time to participate in our annual End of Season Survey. We greatly value our entire community of skiers and outdoor enthusiasts and being able to hear your visions and thoughts on OHOC, feels like things come full circle as we better understand our amazing user group. This data is very useful in helping us make decisions for improvements for the coming year(s). We thought it would be nice to share your general perceptions as we endeavor to answer your call!

What you like most; the snowmaking, the grooming, the groomers and the consistency and predictability of a longer ski season. The lighting, although not enjoyed by all was a "game changer" for several. The atmosphere and community vibe is fun and welcoming with great events for the local and broader community. Our youth skiers have a great venue to support their development and programming. You like our free rental program and how it increases access across the board, especially for beginners.

Things we should work on and improve; more beginner terrain with snowmaking and flatter sections of trail also with machine made snow. Although the new parking lot greatly improved the mud situation, we still have a problem with the walkway up to the new trail at Oak Hill. It would be really nice if there was an indoor toilet(s). Our new signage was good but there is room for improvement especially in unexpected conditions or around safety and trail direction and etiquette. Lessons were great but you want more of it for adults and beginners. Pricing comes up often, but folks also want to see that all trail users are trail pass compliant and that OHOC does more with the digital passes and increase purchasing signage. Outside of nordic programming, mountain biking is high on your lists. And finally, nobody wants to see the natural snow trails fall by the wayside, especially the top of Oak Hill.

So very interesting to process all of these comments. As you can see this summary is includes the meatiest reflections, but we also have stake in the smaller or more obscure thoughts. Understandably, not all changes will happen right away, but there are lots of possibilities. We have an exciting summer ahead of projects, many of which are checking things off this very list. We thank you again for your feedback. And as always we encourage you to stay involved, sign up for an OHOC Volunteer role or stop by the center throughout the summer and see for yourself whats going on around here!

Thanks for Skiing,

The OHOC Team
